It’s about books

Stranger than Fiction!

What science fiction is this? The booming of cannons in the distance, the sky dark as twilight mid-morning? What is this watery substance coming down outside? Is the air conditioner not working? I can’t hear it running, but it still feels comfortable! What the heck is going on?

A break in the heat wave? Now… that is a fantasy story we can all enjoy!

Craziness! What are the Odds?

All I wanted to do was add a single line – a link to another website. At the exact moment I pressed save, the technicians at the hosting server pulled some plug or threw a switch. Bang! Part of my change took, the rest blasted into the internet stratosphere (also known as a black hole, a bottomless pit, the void, or the great abyss). As a result, I couldn’t even log onto the site again to correct the error.

It amounted to me having to open the computer-server hood to tinker with the database. Scary hitting the Delete button there. It’s like pulling a wire from the car engine and tossing it away, hoping that will help the thing start. (It did. Probably wouldn’t in the case of a car…)

After frantically updating the page, I’ve closed the hood again and will let the website take the rest of the day off. Open for viewing. Closed to changes. Tomorrow is another day…

Too Hot to Cook? Read a Cookbook!

Even if the grill has overheated in the summertime sun – you can recline under the fan or air conditioner and read up on those exciting meals you’ll prepare when it cools off again. Just in – used copies (sort of scarce…) of Joy of Cooking and the red and white plaid Better Homes cookbook. (Used to have this one myself.)

A large collection of alternative history fiction – Harry Turtledove – in mass market paperback, has just found a spot on the shelves, as have titles by Steve Berry, James Patterson, and others in suspense.

Visit the (air conditioned) store on Main Street in Broken Arrow, OK.
